How to Register as a Vendor in New Mexico

What it's for

The General Services Department's State Purchasing Division (SPD) runs an optional supplier registration in its Jaggaer (formerly SciQuest) system. Registering puts your company on file, lets the system email you when a solicitation matches your commodity codes, and lets you respond online. SPD's FAQ says you do not need to register to download RFPs or ITBs, and SPD does not assign a vendor number under this system.

Have this ready

• An email address you check (it becomes your username)
• EIN / Tax ID number (entered without dashes)
• New Mexico CRS number, if you do business in New Mexico
• DUNS number (the SPD guide lists it as recommended)
• Business addresses and at least one Corporate contact
• NIGP commodity codes for what you sell (SPD uses NIGP; a code book is on the GSD site)

Steps

1. From the GSD State Purchasing pages, open Vendor (Supplier) Registration (the link above goes straight to it).
2. Start the registration and enter your email address, then create a password and account recovery question.
3. Fill in the basic supplier information, accept the terms and conditions, and create the account.
4. Log in using the link emailed to you and open your registration profile.
5. Work through each section (the SPD guide lists Company Overview, Business Details, Addresses and Contacts) until every section shows as complete. Pick your NIGP commodity codes under Business Details.
6. Certify and submit the profile.

After you register

• SPD says you "will receive direct notices from the system by email ONLY IF you have properly registered," so check that your commodity codes match everything you sell.
• You can edit your profile at any time by logging back in. No renewal cycle is stated in SPD's guides.
• Getting paid by an agency after an award is handled separately from bid registration; confirm payment setup with the buying agency.

Watch out for

• Construction: State building projects run through GSD's Facilities Management Division (Capital Projects Bureau). NMDOT posts its own RFPs through NMDOT Procurement Services, and its highway lettings use Bid Express with contractor prequalification. Neither is covered by SPD registration.
• Some agencies also post ITBs on their own websites, so the SPD list is not every state opportunity.
• SPD charges $0.25 per page only if you ask for paper copies. Registration itself is free, so skip any paid third-party "registration service."
• Approval time is not stated in official guides.
