How to register to bid in New Jersey

- Go to www.njstart.gov and start a new vendor registration.
- Enter your EIN or SSN and company name.
- Company Information: enter your official address and contact details.
- Administrator: name the person responsible for maintaining the profile.
- Addresses & EFT: add other business addresses and electronic payment details if needed.
- Terms: optional.
- Categories and Certifications: check the categories that apply to your business.
- Commodity/Service Codes: choose at least one NIGP code.
- Summary: review everything and submit. A confirmation goes to your registered email.
- Afterward, fill in the shortened state forms in your profile (such as the W-9). The state says in some cases you "may not be required to complete a form at all."
What to have ready
- FEIN (or SSN for a sole proprietor) and your company name exactly as registered
- Country of incorporation, primary business address, and a valid email
- The person who will be your NJSTART Administrator, who keeps the profile up to date
- Bank details for EFT, if you want electronic payment
- At least one NIGP commodity/service code for what you sell
- A New Jersey Business Registration Certificate (BRC) from the Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services (DORES). The state says "all businesses must have a valid Business Registration Certificate (BRC) from DORES prior to conducting business in the State of New Jersey."
