How to Register as a Vendor in North Carolina

What it's for

The electronic Vendor Portal (eVP) is North Carolina's central place for vendors to register, get solicitation notices, respond to state bids and receive purchase orders from state agencies. You can view solicitations without an account, but registering gets you nightly email alerts and lets you do business through NC eProcurement.

Have this ready

• A unique email address for your login (eVP uses email-based multifactor authentication)
• Vendor type (U.S., or foreign with or without a Tax ID)
• Federal Tax ID / FEIN, entered without dashes
• The legal name used on tax documents (for 1099 forms)
• At least one Account Owner contact (name and phone)
• Location addresses: primary, order-from, remit-to and bill-to
• Commodity codes for what you sell (eVP says these are optional but recommended, and they drive your notices)

Steps

1. Go to evp.nc.gov and sign up with your email address. Verify it with the code emailed to you.
2. Enter your name, create a password and set up multifactor authentication.
3. Enter vendor information: vendor name, vendor type and FEIN. Choose the registration types you need. The job aid lists NC eProcurement (to receive purchase orders from state entities), eVP (email notices of procurement and construction opportunities) and NCSBE (small business) certification.
4. Accept the eVP Terms of Use.
5. Complete company information, add contacts (at least one Account Owner) and add locations.
6. If you picked NC eProcurement, accept its terms as well.
7. Add commodity codes (NC eProcurement has a separate "Selecting Commodity Codes in eVP" job aid).
8. Watch for a confirmation email from vendor@nc.gov.

After you register

• eVP sends notice emails nightly to contacts whose commodity codes match a solicitation posted or updated that day.
• Keep contacts, locations and commodity codes up to date. No renewal cycle is stated in the official guides.
• Respond to solicitations the way each solicitation says. Some take responses in eVP and some ask for other methods.

Watch out for

• Construction: State Construction Office "Advertisement for Bids" notices also appear in eVP, but NCDOT highway lettings are separate at connect.ncdot.gov and require NCDOT prequalification.
• The older Interactive Purchasing System (IPS) has been replaced by eVP. Don't rely on old IPS links.
• Registration is free. You don't need a paid third-party service to get on eVP.
• Official guides don't give an approval time.
