How to Register as a Vendor in Connecticut

What it's for

CTsource is Connecticut's state contracting portal, run by the Department of Administrative Services (DAS). Its Bid Board lists solicitations for "all goods and services including information technology," and its Contract Board lists active contracts. Anyone can browse, but suppliers must "register to create a profile and start responding to business opportunities."

Have this ready

• Legal entity name exactly as on IRS records
• FEIN (or SSN for a sole proprietor)
• Business type (corporation, LLC, sole proprietor, etc.) and business address
• DUNS number, only if registering a branch location
• Main contact's name, phone, email, and physical address
• UNSPSC commodity codes for what you sell
• Optional uploads later: insurance certificates, certifications

Steps

Per the DAS "CTsource Supplier Registration and Portal User Guide":

1. From the CTsource page, open the supplier registration link.
2. Agree to the General Disclaimer.
3. Enter organization information: legal name, address, business type, and FEIN or SSN.
4. Enter the main contact's details and create a username and password (at least 8 characters, mixing upper and lower case, numbers, and special characters).
5. Select the UNSPSC categories that match your goods and services.
6. Submit and check the main contact's email for the confirmation message.
7. Log in to CTsource to download solicitation documents and respond by the deadline.

After you register

• You'll get automated email alerts when the state publishes opportunities in your chosen UNSPSC categories.
• Use "My Account" to update organization details, contacts, and categories, and to upload documents such as insurance certificates and certifications.
• Bid tabulations are posted after bids close, which helps you see competitor pricing.
• Renewal requirements were not stated in the official guide.

Watch out for

• Construction is separate and may need prequalification: DAS Construction Services posts building projects on its own bid board (portal.ct.gov/das/construction-services/bidboard), and projects covered by the state's prequalification law require DAS contractor prequalification (thresholds not confirmed here). CTDOT runs its own, separate contractor prequalification and construction bidding; DAS says the two programs "are different and separate."
• Categories drive alerts. Choose every UNSPSC code that applies or you'll miss notices.
• Name must match IRS records.
• Paid third-party "registration services" are unnecessary. No fee is stated for CTsource registration.
